HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn bade farewell to the career she loved at the Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy (CRMA) as she retired as a teacher and special commander of the academy on Tuesday.

Attending a farewell ceremony also attended by 332 retiring army generals at the academy in Nakhon Nayok province on Tuesday, Princess Sirindhorn said she had taught there because she loved to share knowledge and experiences, and to contribute to society and the nation as much as she could.

"As a Thai citizen, I am proud to take part in developing the wisdom and vision of cadets who are the future of the army and the nation," the princess said during the ceremony.

"Please remain honourable and ensure the security and return favours to the land honestly, and care for the sovereignty and benefits of the people to ensure sustainability and their well being."

The CRMA organised the ceremony to honour the princess on her retirement after 35 years of service at the army academy. The princess asked that  332 army generals also retiring on Sept 30 this year also be included.

Eleven battalions of cadets, infantry and cavalry soldiers, and 12 helicopters, paraded before her during the ceremony.
