NCPO ends daily bomb briefings

The National Council for Peace and Order will stop giving daily press briefings about events surrounding last month’s Bangkok bombings, as the situation has returned to normal, a junta spokesman said Tuesday.

Col Winthai Sukvaree said on national television today that police have wrapped their investigation into the Aug 17 Erawan shrine blast and the failed bombing of the Sathorn pier Aug 18. As such, the NCPO's monitoring centre will shut down.

The NCPO set up the centre to give daily briefings on national TV following the two explosions.

In the investigation, two of 17 suspects are now in custody. Bilal Turk, or Adem Karadag, was arrested on Aug 29 at the Pool Anant apartments in Nong Chok district and Yusufu Mieraili was apprehended in Aranyaprathet district of Sa Kaeo province on Sept 1.
