A religious teacher has been detained by authorities for questioning in connection with a spate of six bombs that rocked Khok Pho and tambon Na Pradu municipalities in Khok Pho district of Pattani province on Tuesday night.

Acting under the martial law, a combined military and police force on Wednesday night searched a rented house at Bana village in Muang district of Pattani and took Mahama Tahir, 41, to the Bo Thong interrogation centre in Nong Chik district for questioning.

Pictures from a security camera showed Mr Mahama walking at a spot where one of the bombs went off on Tuesday night.  The explosions injured three people and damaged a car.

Mr Mahama is a religious teacher at a private Islamic school in Pattani's Yarang district.
