YALA -- The chairman of a tambon administration organisation (TAO) was seriously wounded in a gun attack in Krong Pinang district on Sunday morning, police said.
Abdulkore Saha, 51, chairman of Tano Pute TAO, was travelling in his Mitsubishi pick-up truck along Highway 410 between Yala and Bannang Sata when a number of gunmen who followed him on another pick-up truck opened fire at him.
The incident took place near Ban Luemu to tambon Krong Pinang.
Mr Abdulkore was hit in the neck and right arm. Seriously injured, he was rushed by villagers to Krong Pinang Hospital.
Police are investigating to find out if the attack was related to insurgency or a personal conflict.
