Struggling Chonburi's resurgence in the Thai League continued yesterday as they moved up to seventh spot when a second-half goal by Pokklaw A-Nan gave them a 2-1 victory over Sukhothai.

After a spate of shocking defeats, Chonburi are now unbeaten in their past five games and have moved out of the lower half of the 18-team league.

However, SCG Muang Thong United saw their lead at the top slashed by half when second-placed Bangkok United defeated Super Power Samut Prakan 2-0 on Saturday night.

Muang Thong United did Bangkok United a big favour when they succumbed to a shock 3-1 loss at the hands of Ratchaburi in the early game on Saturday.

Bangkok United made the most of the opportunity but had to struggle against the lowly Samut Prakan team as both of their goals came in the last five minutes -- Dragan Boskovic found the net in the 85th minute and Mario Gjurovski scored the second two minutes later.

Bangkok United's tally improved to 48 points and they are now only three points behind Muang Thong United.

Yesterday, Renan Marguez put Sukhothai ahead in the 12th minute before Leandro Assumpcao equalised for Chonburi during the first half injury time and Pokklaw etted the winner in the 59th minute.

Army United could only manage a point from their home game against Bangkok Glass following a lacklustre goalless draw on Saturday.

Chainat were 1-0 winners over visiting Si Sa Ket and BEC Tero Sasana claimed three points after defeating Nakhon Ratchasima 2-1.
