Struggling defending champions Buriram United continued their revival in the Thai League as they claimed the sole possession of fourth place following a hard-fought 4-2 victory over Pattaya United yesterday.

Buriram spent most of the first half trailing the visiting Pattaya United squad by a goal, scored by Junior Negrao in the third minute.

Bruno Moreira's equaliser late in the first half followed by an Anon Amornlertsak strike in the second put Buriram on course before an own-goal by Pattaya's Thanasak Srisai swung the game decisively in the home team's favour.

Junior Negrao pulled one back for Pattaya but Buriram quickly regained their two-goal advantage through Anawin Jujeen.

In another match yesterday, hosts Chainat rallied from a goal down to edge Chiang Rai 2-1.

On Saturday, SCG Muang Thong United assured themselves of another week at the top when they were rescued by a Michael N'dri goal in a 1-1 draw with Navy on on Saturday.

Muang Thong coach Totchtawan Sripan made no attempts to veil his disappointment after the draw.

"We were hoping for a win and it is very disappointing that we couldn't achieve our target at our home ground," said Totchawan.

He added: "I think we need to improve and that too on an urgent basis."

In the 56th minute, the SCG Stadium was silenced when the Brazilian Andre Luis put Navy ahead.

The Kirins went on the offensive and picked up the equaliser only seven minutes later when Frenchman N'dri scored.

High-flying Ratchaburi's three-match winning spree came to a screeching halt at Nakhon Ratchasima as they suffered a shock 1-0 defeat at the hands of a side that is hovering around the red zone.

Nakhon Ratchasima were given the lead at the 60-minute mark by Chanatphol Sikkamonthol which they successfully defended throughout by warding off unrelenting Ratchaburi attacks.

Relegation-threatened Super Power Samut Prakan pulled off a major upset when they edged Chonburi, who had finished the 2015 season in fourth place, 1-0 on Saturday.

In other matches on Saturday, Bangkok Glass trounced BEC Tero Sasana 4-1 and Army were held to a 1-1 draw by Si Sa Ket.
