SILVERSTONE (UNITED KINGDOM) - In-form local favourite Cal Crutchlow will start his home British Grand Prix on pole after topping the times in final qualifying at Silverstone on Saturday.

Fresh from claiming his maiden MotoGp at a rain-hit Brno circuit in the Czech Republic last month the Honda rider was registering the third pole of his career.

The 30-year-old is joined on the front row by Italian veteran Valentino Rossi on a Yamaha and Spain's Maverick Vinales for Suzuki.

Ahead of the seventh last race of the season Marc Marquez, who took fifth in qualifying, leads the championship by 53 points from Rossi.
