South Korea's Kim Si-Woo in running for Rookie award

INDIANAPOLIS - South Korea's Kim Si-Woo was classified Thursday as a US PGA Tour rookie for the 2015-16 season, confirming his eligibility for the Rookie of the Year award.

Kim Si Woo ranks 18th in the current US PGA playoff standings in quest of a $10 million bonus prize after the season-ending Tour Championship later this month in Atlanta

Kim, who won last month's US PGA Wyndham Championship, earned PGA Tour status in the 2013 campaign but played in only eight tournaments, short of the minimum 10 events needed to be defined as a rookie in that season.

Kim ranks 18th in the current US PGA playoff standings in quest of a $10 million bonus prize after the season-ending Tour Championship later this month in Atlanta.

Entering this week's BMW Championship at Indianapolis, Kim is among three rookies out of 70 players still in the hunt for the crown, joined by Argentina's Emiliano Grillo in eighth and American Smylie Kaufman in 33rd.

A winner of the 2015-16 US PGA Rookie of the Year award is expected to be announced in early October.
