SCG Muang Thong United made light of their first match at a neutral venue devoid of their fans as they thrashed BBCU 5-1 on Sunday night to open up a five-point gap at the top of the Thai League.

Muang Thong have 77 points, five ahead of Bangkok United, who drew 1-1 with Chonburi on Saturday.

They are the only two teams who can win the title this season.

Muang Thong, ordered by the Football Association of Thailand to play their home league matches at neutral venues, hosted the game at Supachalasai Stadium.

Both Muang Thong and League One side Port have been directed to use neutral grounds for their home games after an incident involving the fans of the two clubs took place outside Muang Thong's SCG Stadium last week.

The clash between Muang Thong and Port fans erupted after the Kirins edged Port 2-1 to qualify for the League Cup final with a 3-2 aggregate win.

The FAT will announce the findings of its investigation today.

Muang Thong are now scheduled to face arch-rivals Buriram United in the League Cup title showdown.

After Sunday's match, Muang Thong coach Totchtawan Sripan said: "We have only four matches left, so we have to focus on every game from now on."

BBCU coach Jatuporn Pramolban said: "Muang Thong were far stronger than our team. They have a very strong squad.

"We did get a few chances in the second half, but we were not sharp enough to get more than one goal."

Xisco Jimenez and Cleiton Silva netted two goals each and Teerasil Dangda added the other.

Woo Geun-Jeong scored the only goal for BBCU, who have already been assured of a quick return to second-tier League One after just one season in the top flight.

In the other late game on Sunday night, Bangkok Glass defeated Suphanburi 3-1 at home.

The Glass Rabbits are fourth on 54 points, just one point behind defending champions Buriram United.
