An appeal by SCG Muang Thong United against a ban on their fans attending the club's League Cup final has been rejected by the Football Association of Thailand discipline committee.

The Kirins face arch-rivals Buriram United in the title showdown on Oct 15 at Supachalasai stadium.

The ban was imposed after a clash between Muang Thong fans and Port supporters which took place outside SCG Stadium following the League Cup semi-final between two clubs a few weeks ago.

Muang Thong were also banned from playing five matches at their home ground.

Muang Thong had appealed against the rulings. The FAT disciplinary committee rejected the plea but decided to reduce the lengths of these bans.

Maj Pol Gen Supisarn Pakdeenaruenart, the chairman of the FAT disciplinary committee, added: "We cannot allow their fans to attend the Toyota League Cup final.

"We have, however, decided to reduce the ban to the end of this season. It was in fact for five home matches and would have affected their matches at the start of the next season as well."

Meanwhile, Muang Thong, in another letter sent to FAT, requested that the League Cup final be postponed to Nov 6, citing that nine players of the club are currently playing for the national team and return home on Oct 12 after the game with Iraq the day before.

FAT president Pol Gen Somyot Poompunmuang said: "We will pass on this letter to the organising committee to decide whether it is possible for them to postpone the match."

The nine Muang Thong players in the national team are Kawin Thamsatchanan, Peerapat Notechaiya, Theerathon Bunmathan, Adisorn Promrak, Tristan Do, Sarach Yooyen, Tanaboon Ketsarat, Chanathip Songkrasin and Teerasil Dangda.
