Chayuda primed for Dubai Ladies Masters

DUBAI: Chayuda Singhsuwan will provide a glimpse into a new class of fresh-faced golfers looking to make their mark on the professional circuit when she tees it up at the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters at the Emirates Golf Club on Dec 7-10.

Already being spoken of as the next big thing on the Thai women's tour, Chayuda will join a star-studded field spearheaded by defending champion Feng Shanshan of China, British veteran Laura Davies, American Cheyenne Woods and England's Charley Hull, who won the LPGA Tour Championship on Sunday, among other leading lights on the tour.

A two-time amateur winner of the Thailand Ladies Open before turning professional in 2010, Chayuda has won many plaudits across the board while plying her trade on the Thailand, China and Taiwan LPGA tours in addition to donning her country's colours in international events.

"I'm really excited to get out there and play alongside such a world-class field, it's just awesome. I can't wait to get started," said Chayuda, who wants to follow in the footsteps of Ariya Jutanugarn, the first Thai golfer, male or female, to win a major championship, a feat she achieved at the 2016 Women's British Open.

"What Ariya has accomplished in just phenomenal. She is a role model for all aspiring Thai golfers," said Chayuda, who graduated in business from Bangkok University.

"I am grateful to golf in DUBAi for the invitation. Hopefully, I can go out there and be competitive. Whatever the outcome, it will be a great learning curve for me. I am sure I will return home with memories to cherish for a long time to come.

"If I play to my potential, I can expect a good result. I am looking forward to the challenge and making friends with some of the top players in the world."

Chayuda is also a brand ambassador for Golf Citizen, one of the fastest growing online tee time booking engines that aims at stimulating growth of golf in Thailand.

"Thailand is a country blessed with a stunning landscape varying from wide, sandy beaches to green hills, one that resonates well with golf enthusiasts keen to enjoy the fresh air and beautiful scenery that only nature can inspire,'' she said.
