Bangkok Glass midfielder Chitpanya Tisud and Bangkok United's Alexander Sieghart may get call-ups to the national team as Thailand coach Kiatisak Senamuang is looking to fill a void left by Sarach Yooyen's absence due to injury.

Muang Thong United midfielder Sarach suffered a broken ankle after a nasty challenge from Sukhothai's Pichit Jaibun during a Thai League 1 match on Friday night.

The Kirins won the match 1-0.

Sarach's injury was a big blow for Kiatisak as he is preparing for the World Cup qualifier against Saudi Arabia next month.

"It is very unfortunate that we won't have Sarach for the game against Saudi Arabia next month," Kiatisak told Goal.com.

"It's the game Sarach was dying to play because he got a red card during the away match against the Saudis. He desperately wanted to make amends," added Kiatisak.

"But I believe we will find a suitable replacement. Apart from Pokklaw [Anan], Sanrawat [Dechmitr] and [Charyl] Chappuis, we also have some new faces like Chitpanya Tisud and Alexander [Kasidit] Sieghart who nearly got into the squad before."

Bangkok Glass midfielder Chitpanya and Thai-German midfielder Sieghart of Bangkok United were in line for call-ups for last year's World Cup qualifying matches against UAE and Iraq after Prakit Deeprom's injury but ultimately failed to make the squad.

Sarach faces five to six months on the sidelines and his absence will be felt sorely by both his club and the national team.

Muang Thong will meet Brisbane Roar in their opening Group E match of the AFC Champions League tomorrow.

Witthaya Laohakul, technical chairman of Football Association of Thailand (FAT), felt it would be difficult to replace Sarach.

He said: "Sarach's strength lies in ability in moving from one flank to the other quickly. He also has great stamina. It won't be easy to find a suitable replacement for him."

Kiatisak also called on league referees to play an active role in protecting players. "It was a rough tackle on Sarach and it went unpunished," added the coach.

PATTAYA STUN SHARKS

Two late strikes helped 10-man Pattaya United secure a 2-1 comeback victory over Chonburi in an eastern derby in Thai League 1 last night.

Fode Diakete scored in the 70th minute to put the visiting Sharks ahead at Nong Prue Stadium. Milos Stojanovic evened the score for Pattaya before Woranart Thongkrua tapped home a cross from Wellington Priori just before the final whistle.

Pattaya's Picha U-Tra was sent off for his second bookable offence in the 52nd minute.

Police Tero were held 1-1 by Nakhon Ratchasima last night.

Frenchman Michael N'Dri converted a penalty in the 54th minute, but Chakrit Rawanprakon equalised for the Swat Cats in injury time.

Newcomers Thai Honda shocked last year's runners-up Bangkok United through an 84th-minute winner netted by Sittichok Kannoo on Saturday night.

Buriram United breathed a sigh of relief when recorded their first victory in Thai League 1, edging Navy 2-1 away at Sattahip Stadium.

Buriram saw Jakson Coelho score a brace separated by the interval. Chunsana Namkanitsorn scored for Navy in the 84th minute.
