Sukhothai turned on the style as they routed Super Power Samut Prakan 5-1 for their first victory of the 2017 Thai League 1 season at their Thung Talay Luang Stadium last night.

John Baggio (11th and 72nd minutes) and Anton Zemlianukhin (63rd and 66th) netted two goals each for Sukhothai with Watsapol Changklungmoh contributing the fifth in the 70th in the big win which came after two straight losses.

Samut Prakan's consolation goal came in the last minute when Sadney Urikhob scored with a header.

Buriram United, held scoreless in the first half, finally got their act right after the break and picked three points with a 2-0 triumph over Pattaya United at I-Mobile Stadium.

The Thunder Castle were the favourites to win the match and they did not disappoint their fans.

Prolific Diogo Luis Santo was brought down in the box by a Pattaya United defender and he made the most of the penalty kick awarded to give the hosts a 1-0 edge in the 65th minute.

However, Buriram found it difficult to make inroads in the Pattaya defence until the injury time when Supachok Sarachart guide a cross from Diogo into the net to wrap up the second victory of the season for the Thunder Castle.

Earlier on Friday night, Bangkok Glass were ruthless as they handed a 6-0 shellacking loss to Si Sa Ket to return to the winners' circle in the Thai League 1.

The result will add to the pressure mounting on Si Sa Ket coach Dusit Chalermsaen, a former national team defender. This is the third straight loss suffered by the northeastern side in as many matches in the new season.

For almost half an hour, Si Sa Ket had defended their fort well and, despite Bangkok Glass' domination of the ball, there wasn't much suggesting that such a massive rout was in store.

The floodgates opened in the 29th minute when a shot by Chaowat Weerachart ricocheted off the bar for Jhasmani Campos to score from a close range.

Campos also had a hand in delivering the second shortly before the halftime as he deftly set up Toti to find the net with a header.

Bangkok Glass were keen to build on their first-half lead and it took them only a little more than 10 minutes after the break to pierce through the Si Sa Ket defence for their third through Ariel Rodriguez, who was on target again two minutes later to make it 4-0.

Jakkraphan Pornsai opened the ball for Peerapong Pichitchotirat to score with a sizzling long shot before Toti carried his personal tally for the night to two and complete the rout for the Glass Rabbits.

Bangkok Glass coach Aurelio Vidmar said: "It was a good game and the players did very well. I am happy with the result. We were a bit disappointed after getting only a point from the previous game against Super Power but we made amends tonight."

Dusit said: "I am disappointed by the result. In fact, I am shocked that we lost by six goals.

"I am not sure if I will still be the coach when we play Sukhothai next week, but we will try our best to bounce back.

"It is up to the club's board to decide on my future, but personally I am ready to accept their decision whatever that may be."
