SCG Muang Thong United have confirmed Heberty Fernandes as their new striker after the Brazilian agreed to a two-year contract with the Thai league champions.

The 28-year-old former Thai league top scorer has joined the Kirins after a short stint at Saudi club Al-Shabab.

He played two and a half seasons for fellow Thai league club Ratchaburi, scoring 75 goals, before joining Al-Shabab in the second leg of the previous season.

Heberty has been seen as a perfect replacement for fellow Brazilian striker Cleiton Silva who has moved to Chinese League Two.

Heberty, who has an option of a one-year extension in his contract, will reportedly earn 1.7 million baht a month and will wear No.7 shirt, which once belonged to former Thailand midfielder Datsakorn Thonglao, now with Police Tero.

Since the deal was completed after the transfer deadline, Heberty will have to wait for the second leg of the current season before making his league debut for the Kirins. He will, for the time being, play in the League Cup and FA Cup only.

Muang Thong coach Totchtawan Sripan hailed Heberty's addition to his squad.

"Everybody knows Heberty is a top-class player. We all know how good he was during his time at Ratchaburi. I would like to thank him for choosing Muang Thong.

"He will provide an option for our attack and I'm sure he will quickly adapt to our style of play. He will definitely be a great asset to the team," added the coach.

Heberty himself was happy with the return to the Thai league.

"It's great to be back playing in Thailand again," said Heberty. "I'm ready to help the team.

"I chose Muang Thong because they are the best team in Thailand and I want to win things here. Hopefully I can help them do that.

"I still love and respect Ratchaburi. But this is football. Right now I am a Muang Thong player and I will do my best for the team."

THAI RATH TV DEAL

Thai Rath TV has earned the rights to televise all Thailand national football team matches until 2020.

The four-year deal with the Football Association of Thailand was announced yesterday during a press conference presided over by FAT president Pol Gen Somyot Poompunmuang, who was accompanied by national team coach Kiatisak Senamuang.

The deal covers all levels of competitions involving the Thai men and women's national football, futsal and beach football teams.
