Pattaya: The second day of the 2017 Top of the Gulf Regatta yesterday delivered challenging conditions with lighter wind conditions making it a tactical race for all.

A short windward/leeward was set for all classes and after a brief delay waiting for the wind to settle, the fleet were off.

Kevin Whitcraft's 52-foot THA 72 struggled against the smaller boats and had to settle for third place in the IRC 1.

The 40-foot Emagine of Australia, however, read the wind patches best and came in first, the team's second win of the series, and with that they move to the top of the standings.

Martin Brown turned round a slow start to the IRC 3 series with a second place for Nautical Wheeler (USA).

However, Australia's El Coyote continued their winning ways making it three from three so far to solidify their lead at the top.

In the Platu class, Thailand's Pine-Pacific had a good first race with a solid second place but in the second race of the day they fell off the pace and finished sixth.

The spoils were shared between Naiad (RUS) and Easy Tiger 111 (AUS) and with a win in the second race yesterday Chris Way's team on Easy Tiger 111 now jump to the stop of the standings at the halfway point.

The event ends tomorrow.
