Ratchanok Intanon has vowed to give her all as Thailand are set to begin their Sudirman Cup campaign against Hong Kong tomorrow.

The world No.8 found the conditions at Carrara Sport and Leisure Centre, a venue for the eight-day mixed team championship on Australia's Gold Coast, a little too humid for her liking but insisted it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

"It is quite humid here but the team still have a few days to prepare for the match against Hong Kong so I think we can get that sorted," said Ratchanok. "Overall I'm very happy with how things are going.

"I will do my best and give my all for the team. Hopefully the fans back home will give us all their support."

Thailand's top male player Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk said it is crucial for the Kingdom to get their first win against Hong Kong tomorrow.

"Starting off with a win is very important. If we can beat Hong Kong, we're guaranteed of reaching the quarter-finals. We're here to represent Thailand and we will do our best. Hope the fans will cheer us on," said Tanongsak.

There was a little concern yesterday when Kittinupong Kedren was forced to cut short his training session after he twisted his ankle.

After tomorrow's opening tie against Hong Kong, Thailand, who are in Group 1A, will face pre-tournament favourites and 10-time champions China on Wednesday.

Thailand hold a 1-1 head-to-head record against Hong Kong in the tournament.

Group 1B consists of South Korea, Taiwan and Russia while Japan, Malaysia and Germany are in Group 1C and Denmark, Indonesia and India have been drawn together in Group 1D.

The top two teams from each group progress to the quarter-finals.

Thailand's other male players are Khosit Phetpradap, Adulrach Namkul, Suppanyu Avihingsanon, Bodin Isara, Niphitphon Phuangphuapet, Dechapol Puavaranukroh, Trawut Potieng and Nanthakarn Yordpaisong.

The other female members of the Thai team are Busanan Ongbamrungphan, Nitchaon Jindapol, Pornpawee Chochuwong, Sapsiree Taerattanachai, Rawinda Prajongjai, Jongkolphan Kititharakul and Savitree Amitrapai.

Patama joins BWF Council

Badminton Association of Thailand president Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul has been elected a new member of the Badminton World Federation Council.

Patama joined six other newcomers -- Tang Jiu Hong (China), Moosa Nashid (Maldives), Battushig Batbold (Mongolia), Danlami Zama Sanchi (Nigeria), Emma Mason (Scotland) and Robbert de Kock (Switzerland) -- in the BWF Council.

Poul-Erik Hoyer from Denmark will serve another four-year term as BWF president after being re-elected yesterday.

"It is a great honour for me to become a member of the BWF Council," Patama said after being elected by representatives from 186 countries.

"It is a great opportunity, not only for me but for Thailand also, to have a seat in one of the biggest sport's governing bodies."
