Playmaker Chanathip Songkrasin is in Thailand coach Milovan Rajevac's 25-man squad for the country's final two World Cup qualifiers.

The other players in the team announced yesterday include teenage forward Supachok Sarachat of Buriram United and SCG Muang Thong stars Teerasil Dangda and Triston Do.

The squad will report to the training camp on Aug 21 and will be trimmed to 23 players.

Thailand will host Iraq on Aug 31 and play Australia in Melbourne on Sept 5 in their last qualifying games for the 2018 World Cup.

Chanathip, who is at Japanese club Consadole Sapporo on loan from Muang Thong, has not yet played for the national side under Rajevac.

Supachok, 19, is one of the revelations of Thai League 1 this term, but has been left out of the U22 team for the SEA Games.

Rajevac said: "Supachok is skilful. It is good to have some young players in your team. I will get a chance to watch him closely."

Both Thailand and Iraq are out of contention for tickets to the 2018 World Cup and Rajevac believes Thailand can secure their first win of Asia's final qualifying round for the Russia finals.

"Our goal is to beat Iraq and this would be our first win in this World Cup qualifying round. It would also show a big step forward for our team," said the Serbian coach who guided the War Elephants to win the King's Cup in Bangkok last month.

"We want to make progress and our Fifa ranking will surely improve with a win over Iraq."
