Key defender Teneal Attard will miss the Commonwealth Games after suffering a serious knee injury in Australia's loss to the Netherlands at the women's World Cup, Hockey Australia said on Sunday.

It is the third anterior cruciate ligament injury in Attard's career. She returned to the national squad 12 months ago after recovering from a similar injury, Hockey Australia said.
