Thailand are eyeing 15 gold medals in track-and-field at the 25th SEA Games in Laos from Dec 9-18.
Surapong Ariyamongkol, general secretary of Amateur Athletic Association of Thailand, said his team could now pin their hopes in the field events.
"Usually, we are strong in the track events but our athletes in the field events have improved," he said.
There will be 45 gold medals up for grabs in the SEA Games and Surapong hopes his athletes will win at least 15.
Amateur boxer Amnat Ruenroeng said he was confident that he would win another gold although he is moving up to the 51kg division from the 48kg class.
"I feel more comfortable fighting at flyweight," said Amnat, who won the light-flyweight gold in the 2007 SEA Games.
"I will be very disappointed if I fail to win gold this time."
