Thailand could only finish fourth in the Fed Cup Asia/Oceania Zone Group I after losing 2-1 to Taiwan in the third-place play-off in Shenzhen, China yesterday.
In the first singles match, young star Varatchaya Wongteanchai lost 7-5, 6-3 to Hsieh Su Wei.
In the second singles, Thailand's top player Tamarine Tanasugarn was defeated 6-3, 6-4 by Chang Kai-Chen.
