Luis Suarez has apologised to Patrice Evra for refusing to shake hands with the Manchester United defender, but the Liverpool striker was still subjected to a strong dressing down from his club as the Reds finally tried to bring an end to the simmering race row on Sunday.
Manchester United's French defender Patrice Evra (R) and Liverpool's Uruguayan striker Luiz Suarez (L) fail to shake hands before the English Premier League football match between Manchester United and Liverpool at Old Trafford in Manchester, on February 11. Suarez has apologised to Evra for refusing to shake hands, but the striker was still subjected to a strong dressing down from his club.
Suarez said sorry for his failure to acknowledge Evra's hand during the traditional pre-match greeting at Old Trafford on Saturday as he came face to face with United's captain for the first time since being given an eight-match ban for racially abusing the Frenchman at Anfield in October.
