Defending champion Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia defended her PTT Pattaya Open title yesterday after an enthralling three-hour victory over Russian world No.26 Maria Kirilenko.

Hantuchova lost the first set 6-7 (4/7) but battled back to beat Kirilenko 6-3, 6-3 in the remaining two sets to win a contest that lasted 3hrs 14mins.
