Atiwit claims maiden professional title in play-off

Atiwit Janewattananonda won at the Thailand Pro Tour Qualifying School in Lop Buri yesterday.

The 16-year-old, who shot a final-round three-under-par 69, defeated Kan Charoenkul (72) at the third play-off hole after they finished on 274 following 72 holes at the Narai Hill Golf and Country Club.

Atiwit, who received 167,000 baht in prize money, and the top-65 finishers are eligible for the seven-event Thailand Pro Tour which offers a total prize money of 42 million baht.

It was the first professional title for the former national player who turned pro last year.

Thammanoon Srirot (65) and Warut Chomchalam (65) shared third place on 276.

The first Thailand Pro Tour tournament will be the six-million baht baht Lop Buri Open next month.
