Strong start for Natchapol

Bangkok native Natchapol Srinoon fired a one-under-par 71 to take a two-shot lead in the opening round of the Singha Thailand Junior World Golf Championships in Hua Hin yesterday.

Natchapol, 16, made four birdies against three bogeys in the boys' Class A and was two shots ahead of compatriot Nattawat Suvajankorn at the Royal Hua Hin Golf Club.

Nattawat is regarded as favourite to win the title after finishing tied seventh at the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship in Chon Buri on Sunday. Taiwan's Tsai Shang En was third on 74.
