Pacquiao 'let Philippine fans down'

Philippine boxing hero Manny Pacquiao shed tears on national television Monday, saying he had let his country down in his devastating knockout loss to his great Mexican rival Juan Manuel Marquez.

"The low morale, the sadness, I accept that. This is my job.... But the reaction of the Filipinos, the many who cried, especially my family, it really hurts me," he said in an interview on the GMA network.

    I can't see him ending his magnificent career on a defeat. That is not in the man. And you can be sure he will be more careful from now on and not be sucker punched again.

    Getting knocked out on a punch that you walked onto at this level is no reason to quit. Manny has a lot more to offer.

    I hope Pacquiao listens to his wife and hangs up the gloves. Getting hit like that could have been fatal. In fact, I was concerned when Pacquiao didn't even twitch, but layed there stone-cold.
