One of the ultimate goals of an international sport organisation is pushing its discipline to gain the highest level of popularity around the world.
Yaowapa Burapholchai, right, won a bronze medal at the Athens Olympic Games, helping boost taekwondo’s popularity.
Clearly, the higher number of people taking part in a sport, as athletes or spectators, the higher financial reward its governing body will receive through sponsorship and broadcasting rights, among other sources of revenue.
