Thai footballer slammed for unsportsmanlike conduct

A video clip of a Thai footballer shoving a Lao team member who tried to get him onto a stretcher during a match has sparked an uproar from Thai and Lao netizens who slammed him for poor sportsmanship.

The match was the final round of the 16th Asean University Games' football tournament between Thailand and Laos. The match was held in Vientiane last Wednesday. Thailand won 2-0.

Kriangkrai Pimrat, 24, went down after a challenge by a Lao player in the 32nd minute of the game. The Thai player pushed away one of the staff who tried to assist him onto a stretcher.

I think in modern society we create sport because we want to ease anger and fight (war) between nations (groups or gangs), but barbaric action of some human male is still existed. It is not surprise with this Thai athlete to show the bad side of human being and poor sportsmanship. Almost a decade ago in the name of the most civilized nation like USA was still showed the barbaric side of human being by creating the war with the weaker country like Iraq. I think Lao people should not take one individual's action to spoil the whole spirit of peaceful purpose of sport.

According to one poster from Pantip, he was taunted by the crowd. Grow up boys, this is sports and you will be taunted and booed. If the sissy's can't handle that, may I suggest ballet. Inappropriate and very unsportsmanlike from the Thai players.

This is why ASEAN Nations cannot go forward more than Asian cup. This kind of disgraceful manners won´t let you guys go to World Cup. Keep it cool when playing competitive sport.

What do you expect from an immature Thai 'boy.' Where I come from you are expected to be a man by the age of 24. In the long run we don't need to worry about this little punk. He is not pro material and will simple end up back with his motor-scooter-gang back home.
