Pressure on Mourinho as Real draw blank at Osasuna

Jose Mourinho was under more pressure on Saturday when misfiring Real Madrid were held to a 0-0 draw at relegation-threatened Osasuna, a result which left the champions 15 points behind leaders Barcelona.

Real Madrid's midfielder Masoud Shojaei (R) clashes with Osasuna's midfielder Oier Sanjurjo during their Spanish league football match at the Reyno de Navarra stadium in Pamplona on January 12, 2013. The match ended in a draw 0-0.

Madrid, devoid of any creativity, missed the suspended Cristiano Ronaldo, who had scored five of his side's eight goals in the last two games, and their desperate state was highlighted when substitute Kaka was sent-off in the second half.

Judging from the way the players were selected, it seemed that Mourinho has given up chasing Barcelona; so he opted to rest key players for more important matches in the coming weeks. A second or third finishing makes no difference; better to cut the lost and concentrate the resources on those Cups that are still achievable. Jose is a known specialist in Europe Cups and that is where his main priority is focused on. Nevertheless, winning the Europe Cup will make up for the disappointment in the local leagues but the first order of the day is to get MU out of the way; it’s also a key to his next managerial room in MU.
