Football can be very cruel at times. If you have any doubts, ask Stoke striker Jon Walters.
As the teams ran out on to the pitch for the Stoke v Chelsea match at the Britannia Stadium last weekend, the football experts were rightly extending a lot of praise to Walters for making his 100th Premiership appearance. Manager-turned-pundit Peter Reid praised Walters for his consistency and hard work, suggesting that he might even have a goal in him.
In fact, it was two goals, but unfortunately for the Republic of Ireland international they came at the wrong end. Add to that a missed penalty and the Stoke player suffered a game he would like to forget.
