SCG Muang Thong claim three Golden Ball awards

Thai Premier League champions SCG Muang Thong United collected three top prizes at yesterday's Football Siam Golden Ball Awards, including the best player of the year honours won by their striker Teerasil Dangda.

Teerasil, who is currently training with Spanish club Atletico Madrid, was the TPL's joint top-scorer last season _ equal with BEC Tero Sasana's Cleiton Silva on 24 goals.

He was also the top scorer, with five goals, in the 2012 AFF Suzuki Cup, although Thailand lost to Singapore in the final.

Slavisa Jokanovic was named the best coach after guiding Muang Thong to an unprecedented unbeaten season, his team also named the best club.

Buriram United's Apichate Puttan was named the most valuable player. His teammate Teerathorn Bunmathan took the most popular player title, as voted by fans.

Brazil's Silva was recognised as the best foreign player, while his BEC teammate Chanathip Songkrasin, who was part of Thailand's Suzuki Cup squad, was named the best rookie.

Wilaiporn Butduang claimed the best women's player award, while Ratchaburi Mitrpol FC's Prayad Boonya was named the best player in League One.

Trad FC's Rattaporn Saetan was the best player in the Regional League and Weerapol Kornyok took the best junior player award.

Supawut Thuengklang was voted the best futsal player after his performance in the Fifa Futsal World Cup.
