Suree gets Thailand recall

Suree Sukha has received a recall to the national team for this month's Asian Cup qualifying match at Lebanon.

The defender, who last played for Thailand last year, is coach Winfried Schaefer's 41st player in the initial squad for the Lebanon match on March 22.

Schaefer will cut the number to 23 before they leave for Qatar on March 15. They will play a warm-up match with Qatar before going to Beirut.

Suree has played well for his new club Buriram United since his move from Chonburi FC a few weeks ago.

"I am very happy to get a recall to the national team. I will do my best to help the team if I am selected to play," he said.

Thailand suffered a 3-1 home loss to Kuwait in their opening game in the Asian Cup qualifying round.

With Iran the other team in their group, Thailand must get a result in Beirut to stay in contention for a place in the 2015 finals to be held in Australia.

Meanwhile, Kittiratt Na-Ranong has resigned as manager of the national team because he is too busy as deputy prime minister and finance minister, the Football Association of Thailand said yesterday.

Kittiratt remains as manager of the SEA Games team, according to FAT secretary-general Ong-art Kosinkha.

Pol Col Pornchai Thaitae, deputy chief of metropolitan police region 1, is expected to replace Kittiratt as manager of the national side.
