Thongchai falters in Masters bid

NEW DELHI - Local favourites Abhijit Singh Chadha and Joonas Granberg took the top two spots at the first day of the Avantha Masters golf tournament, as big-hitting Kiradesh Aphibarnrat chased them.

Thongchai Jaidee, off to a slow start as he tries to win the Avantha tournament in New Delhi to qualify for next month's US Masters in Augusta, Georgia.

But it was a disappointing day for Thongchai Jaidee, who set out Thursday to win the tournament, in order to qualify for next month's Master in the US.
