His victory ended Majid's hope of becoming the first Pakistani to capture the Asian junior crown.

Noppol, the sixth Thai to win the title, said that it was tougher than expected to beat the Pakistani, who he easily defeated 5-0 previously.

"He played much better this time," Noppol said.

"However, he made some mistakes late in the competition."

Noppon dedicated his win to his sick father, who will undergo an operation later this month.

With the win, he is eligible to play in the world circuit next season.

There have been five previous Thai winners: Anan Terananon (1993), Paithoon Polboo (1994), Supoj Saenla (2001), Pramual Jantad (2004) and Passakorn Suwannawat (2006).
