British diver Daley set for Edinburgh return

British teenage diving sensation Tom Daley is returning to senior international competition for the first time since taking bronze at the London Olympics next weekend.

Britain's Tom Daley poses after winning the gold in the men's 10m platform diving finals in New Delhi on October 13, 2010. The teenage diving sensation is returning to senior international competition for the first time since taking bronze at the London Olympics next weekend.

The 18-year-old admits he lost some of his desire for the diving pool after claiming a podium finish at his home Games eight months ago with a four year wait until the Rio Games in 2016

Since London Daley, who was adding Olympic bronze to his world, European and Commonwealth titles, has carried out a host of media engagements, and fronted a reality television programme.

Daley, who makes his competitive comeback at a World Series event in Edinburgh, told Britain's Press Association on Saturday: "It's extremely tough to go all my life towards working towards the London Olympics and then it was over.

"I didn't really see past it. I don't think anything is ever going to live up to that in my career to be honest.

"Once it was gone it was really tough to get back in the pool.

"I only had two weeks off after the Olympics and I was back in training for the World Youth Championships.

"It was hard to think 'I've got to work towards Rio now'. It is so far away."
