Dad says Ariya, Moriya need to improve putting

Thai sisters Moriya and Ariya Jutanugarn must improve their putting if they want to be successful at the elite level, according to their father Somboon.

Four months after turning pro, Ariya and Moriya have posted some outstanding performances.

While Ariya landed her maiden Ladies European Tour title at the Lalla Meryem Cup in Morocco, Moriya sits 22nd on the LPGA Tour's money list with US$150,936 and missed the cut in just one of eight tournaments, her best performance a joint-13th finish at the Kraft Nabisco Championship.

''They should have done better jobs if their putting had worked,'' Somboon said. ''They could not produce consistent form because of poor putting.''

Ariya met her father's expectations in winning the LET title but he was far from happy.

''Even though she won the title, her putting at the event was very bad,'' he said.

Ariya will this week play at the Kingsmill Championship in Virginia with Moriya, Pornanong Phatlum, Thidapa Suwannapura and Numa Gulyanamitta.

Ariya has also secured a berth at two majors _ the Women's British Open in August and the Evian Championship in France in September.
