Denkaosan and Nashiro to fight for belt next month

Former world champions Denkaosan Kaovichit and Nobuo Nashiro will fight for the interim WBA super-flyweight belt in Nakhon Ratchasima next month.

The fight, to be held at Suranaree University of Technology on Sept 3, is considered to be both fighters' last attempt to win the world title.

The 36-year-old Denkaosan is the former WBA flyweight champion while the Japanese (19-5-1, 13KOs) was crowned the WBA super-flyweight champion in 2006.

Denkaosan (61-3-1, 26KOs) has been training for more than three months and his manager Niwat Laosuwanwat believes there will be no better chance for him to win the title again.

"He put on a great performance in the last two fights and really in a good shape," Niwat said. "If he wins, he is likely to challenge for the real title soon."

However, Niwat admitted the experienced Nashiro, 31, cannot be underestimated.

"Both have classes and experiences," he said. "Due to its interest, the fight will be live in Thailand and in Japan."
