After all that waiting and the big build-up, it was a somewhat underwhelming opening to the Premier League last weekend - a bit like opening a box of chocolates and not finding anything quite to your taste.
But we still had upsets, controversy, missed penalties, red cards, disputed decisions and, of course, dodgy refereeing. Then there were players talking nonsense and managers going nuts on the touchline. In other words, situation normal.
The biggest upset on the opening day was Arsenal's 1-3 home defeat by a much-improved Aston Villa side, prompting the Sun headline "Farcenal". But the Gunners managed to salvage some pride with an impressive 3-0 win in Turkey against Fernebahce, prompting a host of predictable "Turkish Delight" headlines in the British press.
