Bangkok Bank overcome King Power

HUA HIN : Reigning champions King Power became powerless at the 12th King's Cup elephant polo tournament yesterday.

Bangkok Bank ended King Power's reign with a brilliant 12-10 win in the annual tournament.

King Power, captained by Tom Claytor, were stunned in the opening stages when James Manclark scored the first goal of the encounter.

Claytor and his teammates Nattapong Pratumlee and Satid Wongkraso fought back but found themselves 11-6 behind at half-time.

In the second half, King Power threw everything at Bangkok Bank and scored three unanswered goals to cut the deficit to 11-9 with three minutes left.

But their efforts were not enough as Bangkok Bank fended off their late charge to win 12-10.

The tournament ends today and admission is free.
