Buriram forced to fight to split points with Ratchaburi

Buriram United yesterday fought back from a two-goal deficit against Ratchaburi to claim a share of the points in a 2-2 draw in the Thai Premier League.

The result means that although Buriram remain top of the table, their lead over Muang Thong has shrunk to three points.

Ratchaburi made a flying start, opening the scoring in the fourth minute when Rattana Petcharporn's long shot was spilled by Buriram goalkeeper Sivarak Tedsungnern.

Buriram searched for an equaliser but both Suchao Nutnum and Carmelo Gonzalez had shots blocked by defenders. Instead, Ratchaburi doubled their lead when John Obregon scored on the end of a counter-attack.

After the restart, Buriram went on the attack but Ratchaburi's defence held up initially. In the 70th minute, though, Theerathon Bunmathan beat Ratchaburi goalkeeper Ukrit Wongmeena from long range to pull the score back to 2-1.

Buriram had the momentum and equalised through Kei Hirano. They had chances to snatch all three points during injury time but Ratchaburi held on.

In other matches, Army United drew 2-2 against Insee Police United. Aron da Silva put Army United ahead in the 20th minute before Michael Murcy equalised for the Police. Army United again went ahead through Bjorn Lindemann, only for the Police to equalise through Phaitoon Nontadee.

Pattaya United drew 2-2 with Songkhla United, Samut Songkhram won 2-1 against BEC Tero Sasana and Chonburi beat Chiang Rai United 3-0.
