But Boonsak Ponsana, the country's top male player, failed at the first hurdle, losing 22-20, 21-15 to India's Kashyap Parupalli.
World No.2 and reigning world champion Ratchanok needed three sets to get past China's Chen Xiao Jia 16-21, 21-14, 21-8.
Busanan Ongbumrungpan defeated China's Shen Yaying 21-18, 22-20 while Porntip Buranaprasertsuk upset eighth seed Taiwanese Tzu Ying Tai.
