I will be fit for World Cup - Gomez

German international striker Mario Gomez said on Wednesday he would be fit for the World Cup finals later this year despite his first season with Serie A club Fiorentina being disrupted by injury.

The 28-year-old -- scorer of 25 goals in his 59 international appearances -- is out of action for a second time this season with a knee problem.

However, Gomez, who last played for Germany in the 3-3 draw with Paraguay last August, insisted he would be back ready to play in Brazil in June.

"I am convinced that I will be in top form for June and July," he told Sky's German channel.

"I will start to do some endurance training in the next few days.

"I still have enough time to return to my best form," added the former Bayern Munich star, who hopes to be fit for the Italian Cup final against Napoli on May 3.

Gomez, who suffered ligament damage in his right knee in mid-September, which saw him miss the next five months, has scored four times in 15 matches since joining Fiorentina for a fee believed to be 20 million euros ($27.5mn).
