Prayad takes clubhouse lead at Singha Pattaya

Prayad Marksaeng fired a second-round 67 to take the clubhouse lead at the Singha Pattaya Open yesterday.

Overnight leader Prayad made five birdies in a bogey-free round at the par-72, 7,256-yard Burapha Golf Club.

His 131 total gave him a three-shot advantage with about 10 players failing to finish the second round due to darkness.

Sattaya Supupramai made a 67 to stay second on 134 while three-time champion Prom Meesawat (66) was on 136.

Chawalit Plaphol (71), Jazz Janewattananond (68) and Phachara Kongwatmai (68) shared fourth place on 137.

Thaworn Wiratchant (67), Panuphol Pittayarat (67) and Namchok Tantipokakul (67) were joint seventh on 138. Gunn Charoenkul, who won the season-opening Singha E-san title on the All Thailand Golf Tour and the Asean PGA Tour last month, made a 69 for 139.

Defending champion Kwanchai Tannin, who won in Pattaya by six strokes last year, fired a 71 to stay 25th.

Chapchai Nirat, who made an opening 68, and Thammanoon Srirot withdrew from the tournament due to injury.

Amateur golfer Paradorn Srichapan, a former top-10 player in tennis, was at 22 over with three holes to play in the second round.

On the women’s side, Walailak Satarak fired a 69 for a two-shot lead with one round to go.

She was on 139, two strokes ahead of Thanaporn Kongkiatkrai (68).
