Clippers owner banned for life over race remarks

- +

The NBA came down hard on Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling, banning him for life for "deeply offensive and harmful" racist comments that sparked a national firestorm.

LA Clippers coach Doc Rivers (L) celebrates with players (front 2nd L) Blake Griffin (32), Darren Collison (2), J.J. Redick (4) and Chris Paul (30) after the Clippers defeated the Golden State Warriors on April 29, 2014 in Los Angeles

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver hit Sterling with every penalty at his disposal on Tuesday, fining him a maximum $2.5 million dollars and calling on other owners to force him to sell his team.
