Rory McIlroy won the European PGA Championship for the first time at Wentworth on Sunday.

The Northern Irishman started the final round tied for fourth, seven strokes off the lead, but a six-under 66 gave him the prestigious title with a 14-under total of 274.
It was a first title win of the year for the former world number one.
Second place went to Shane Lowry of Ireland, who closed with a 68, with Luke Donald of England (70) and Thomas Bjorn of Denmark (75) sharing third a further stroke back.
