Teerasil off to Spain for stint at Almeria

National striker Teerasil Dangda has left for Spain to join La Liga side Almeria for one season on loan from Thai Premier League club SCG Muang Thong United.

"I am very excited to go to Spain," he said before leaving for Spain on Monday night.

"It will be a crucial step of my career. It will be good for me because I will face stronger opponents there."

Teerasil trained with Spanish champions Atletico Madrid last year and he said he would work harder this time.

"I will do my best to get a first-team place but first I will have to train hard."

Teerasil will return to Thailand with Almeria when they train here from July 28-Aug 8. During their stay, they will play warm-up matches with Muang Thong and Phuket FC.

Muang Thong have brought in Brazilian striker Cleiton Silva as Teerasil’s replacement.

The TPL leaders have also signed Spanish defender Artiz Borda on a six-month contract.

The Kirins are two points clear of BEC Tero Sasana and three ahead of defending champions Buriram United in the TPL.
