Ratchanok supports Ban Karuna project

Ruamrudee International School has initiated a badminton campaign to help children at Ban Karuna Juvenile Delinquent Centre.

The campaign is backed by Banthongyod badminton school and its world champion Ratchanok Intanon and Thong Lor veterinary hospital.

The campain's main objective is to promote love for badminton and sport among the youngsters at the centre and give them support.

Concerned parties are building two badminton courts at the venue with the preliminary contruction process was launched last week.

Ruamrudee students have helped raise funds for the project.

At last week's opening ceremony, Ratchanok said she hoped that about 800 participanting children detained at the centre for reform would get a better understanding of sport in general and badminton in particular.

Ratchanok said badminton and other sports can help promote good health and create friendship.

Ratchanok came from a poor family but hard work has helped push her to become a badminton star. She became Thailand's first ever world badminton champion last year.
