Muang Thong hang on to top spot after draw

Buriram United also held by battling Rayong to remain three points adrift in second place

Thai Premier League leaders SCG Muang Thong United remain three points ahead of Buriram United after both failed to win last night.

Muang Thong United’s Wuthichai Tathong, right.

Buriram were held to a 1-1 draw by relegation strugglers PTT Rayong, while Muang Thong drew 2-2 at Ratchaburi.

At PTT Rayong Stadium, Theerathon Bunmathan gave Buriram a 1-0 lead at half-time. The hosts came back strongly in the second half and deservedly got a point from Pichate Innbang’s equaliser after 65 minutes.

Buriram threw everything at the hosts in the final stages but failed to score a winner with Anawin Jujeen and Carmelo Gonzalez squandering chances.

At Ratchaburi Stadium, Wuthichai Tathong opened the scoring for Muang Thong in the 27th minute only for Genki Nagasato to equalise eight minutes later.

Herberty Fernandes gave Ratchaburi the lead in the 52nd minute but Totsapol Lathed earned a point for the Kirins two minutes later.

At Tinsulanonda Stadium, hosts Songkhla United shared points with Army United in a 1-1 draw. Muzafer Ejupi scored for Songkhla after just five minutes but Raphael Sena cancelled out the lead in the 60th minute.

At United Stadium, Anon Sangsanoi scored two goals for hosts Chiang Rai United to beat Suphanburi 2-0.
