Spanish club to challenge Phuket FC

Phuket FC will take on Spanish club UD Almeria in the “LFP World Challenge By Chang” on Aug 6 at Surakul Stadium in Phuket.

The match, which is supported by Kata Group Resorts Thailand and the Republic Phuket Football Ground, will kick off at 7pm.

Founded in 1989, UD Almeria reached the semifinals of the Copa del Rey, the annual Spanish football cup competition, for the first time ever in the 2010-11 season.

Thai national Teerasil Dangda is likely to be the focus of attention on the evening, because as well as being a popular striker in the Thailand national team, Teerasil is also currently playing for UD Almería on loan from Thai Premier League side, Muangthong United.

Phuket FC was founded in 2009, won the Southern Regional Division 2 in 2010 and finished second in the Division 2 Champions League after losing in the final to Buriram United FC the same year. They currently play in the Thai Division 1 League.
