Buriram win to extend lead at summit

Muang Thong United move to second after being held to goalless draw with Suphanburi

Buriram United yesterday moved four points clear at the top of the Thai Premier League after they defeated Air Force 2-0 at I-Mobile Stadium.

Police’s Michael Murcy, left, vies with Songkhla’s Rachanon Kanyatong.

It was a welcome return to form for Buriram, who lost 1-0 to Chonburi in mid-week. Third-placed Chonburi will cut that lead to one point if they seal a home win against Singhtarua today.

Buriram scored through Javier Patino in the 40th minute and Adisak Kraisorn in the 51st minute to secure the three points.

SCG Muang Thong United moved to second after a 0-0 draw at Suphanburi yesterday.

Both sides sent out full squads, with Datsakorn Thonglao lining up Muang Thong and Charyl Chappuis, on loan from Buriram, turning out for Suphanburi.

Muang Thong had chances in the first half but were denied by Suphanburi goalkeeper Kittipong Putaelchuek.

In the second half, Muang Thong had further opportunities, with Cleiton Silva, in particular, missing a great chance to break the deadlock.

Chappuis also had an opportunity but had his shot saved by Kawin Thamasatchanan.

As a result of the draw, Muang Thong moved up to second.

At Tinsulanonda Stadium, Songkhla United and Police United drew 1-1. Michael Murcy put the Police ahead in the 62nd minute before Renan da Silva equalised in the 67th minute.

At United Stadium, Chiang Rai United and Si Sa Ket drew 1-1.

Renan Marques put Chiang Rai ahead in the second minute before before Si Sa Ket levelled through Ekaphan Jadaporn.
