Prom takes one-shot lead while amateur Parinda wins women's title in Khon Kaen

Prom Meesawat fired a three-under-par 69 yesterday to take a one-shot lead into the final round of the three-million-baht Singha All Thailand Championship in Khon Kaen.

One stroke behind overnight leader Thaworn Wiratchant after two rounds, Prom made five birdies and two bogeys to lead on 203.

Thaworn hit a 71 for 204 to share second place with Anthony Kang of the US (65) at Singha Park Khon Kaen Golf Club.

Sutijet Kooratanapisan was four strokes behind the leader after a birlliant 67 with six birdies and one bogey.

Prayad Marksaeng carded a 71 and was five strokes off the pace.

Gunn Charoenkul, who won the Singha E-san Open here in March, suffered a 16th hole double bogey to finish at 72 and was tied for ninth.

In the 54-hole women's division, amateur Parinda Phokan struggled with a final 73 with two birdies and three bogeys but it was enough for her to win the title on 210.

She was in trouble on the front nine where she made two bogeys for a 38. She also made a 10th-hole bogey but regrouped to get two birdies in the last three holes to win by a stroke.

Auchisa Utama closed with a 67 to finish second on 211, one shot ahead of Benyapa Niphatsophon.
